As July draws to a close we touch base with Event Executive Alex Hinch to gain an insight into her Ampersand life during the past month.
Alex joined Ampersand back in May 2012 and looks after a
myriad of unique venues such as the Science Museum, London Transport Museum and
Museum of London.
What has been your biggest achievement this month?
July has been my busiest month yet, the pinnacle being dealing with over 1,728 covers across three days at the Science Museum and Guildhall. These are two of my favourite venues, so this was an incredible couple of days, especially as they rounded off with the Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace. A very tiring but very rewarding and memorable week to say the least!
What is the best thing you have tasted this month?
Marmite and cheese swirl roll – we are very lucky in Shoreditch to be surrounded by delicious café and bars. En route to work this month I found these freshly baked Marmite and cheese rolls which were just to die for. Definitely a divisive kind of roll though – you’ll love them or you’ll hate them – as Marmite’s No. 1 fan, it was love at first sight for me!
What’s your favourite food fact?
Apples are better at waking you up in the morning than coffee. (That said, it is rare for me to come into the office without a Starbucks in hand.)
If someone asked you to give them a single piece of advice, what would you say?
"Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like it's heaven on earth.” An oldie but a goodie, and I most certainly follow the singing and dancing advice daily!
If you could try out any other job for a day, what would you like to try?
Easy, being in a West End Musical, something like the Lion King or the Jersey Boys. I have always been a huge fan of the theatre and have always wanted to be on the stage – it’s just my lack of musical talent that lets me down!
