Glittering Jewels, Shining Stars and Marvellous Canapés – a Gala Charity Dinner at the Tower of London

This year, we had the privilege of catering the fantastic "Together at the Tower” Charity Dinner, which included a stunning performance from Katherine Jenkins. Hosted by DFS Furniture, the event was in aid of two revered charities, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and BBC Children in Need. In collaboration with creative events agency Fresh, we put together a plan to wow 190 guests in two fantastic spaces at the Tower of London – the White Tower and New Armouries.


The occasion got off to a glittering start, with guests welcomed into the Jewel House for a private tour of the Crown Jewels – a dazzling treat! They then enjoyed their drinks reception on the top floor of the White Tower, surrounded by exclusive views of Tower Bridge, the Thames and the City. Here guests enjoyed delicious canapés from our spring/summer menu, such as our smoked duck with soused enoki mushroom and plum purée; beef tataki with crispy garlic, spring onion and tosazu dip; plus many more.


The magic didn’t end there; next guests were escorted to the New Armouries, where tables were dressed with crisp white linen, Flora glassware, our finest cutlery and outstanding floral arrangements from Simon Lycett, including a perfect pillow of flowers with a replica of the Queen’s crown on them.


Impressionist and Comedian Jon Culshaw arrived on stage to welcome guests and announce the unforgettable entertainment, world renowned singer Katherine Jenkins. Katherine played a superb 30-minute set, with songs selected from her most classic numbers, leaving guests ecstatic to have witnessed such a huge star within such an intimate setting.


Now for our favourite part – dinner service! The meal began with one of our most popular spring/summer starters, our avocado purée with heritage beetroot mousse, dolcelatte and walnut granola with horseradish cream. This was followed by our corn-fed supreme of chicken with smoked duck arancini, roasted baby garlic, poached truffle egg and salsa verde.

For the dessert course we served the team’s personal favourite, our white chocolate and strawberry sphere with champagne strawberries, muscovado meringue and passion fruit jus. Not only did our food impress; guests were also delighted with our friendly, professional staff who ensured that the event ran seamlessly, just the way we love it.


The evening ended with an auction, raising money for these very worthwhile charities It was a wonderful honour to support The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and BBC Children in Need, and to offer our services to DFS Furniture for this fabulous evening.
