This versatile and beautiful building is the perfect venue for an array of events, and at Christmas time it takes very little to make it look truly spectacular. This time around, the star cloth and fairy lights draped from the roof were all that was needed to create a contemporary and chic winter wonderland, nestled in the heart of Canary Wharf.
For their annual celebration, the Canary Wharf Group like to fill the event space with bustling internationally themed food stalls. The venue lends itself very well this particular style of food service, and it’s always a popular choice with guests. At the party, the room was divided in such a way that attendees could feel they were on a culinary journey, experiencing the tastes aromas, and culture associated with each country.
Upon arrival, cocktails and canapés were circulated while guests guessed the featured nations based on the colours, theming and chef outfits on show on each stall. After the entertainment the guests were hungry and ready to embark on their edible adventure, exploring new flavours and textures along the way.
One side of the room was lined with stalls boasting dishes from India, Italy, Mexico, and Thailand. The chefs at each stall cheerfully engaged with the guests, talking them through each dish and encouraging them to try their country’s traditional favourites. Each station was designed to cater and accommodate for all palates, offering a real variety of dishes and flavours. Of course there are always those dishes which disappear in the blink of an eye; the stars of this year’s party were the beef fajitas with homemade nachos and the tandoori prawn skewers with homemade peshwari naan breads.
Once the guests’ savoury appetites were satisfied, they could explore the other side of the room where further delights waited. There was a cheese cart offering a variety of cheeses alongside a selection of dried fruits and homemade chutneys, presented on rustic slates. The adjacent dessert table was a dream for any guest with a sweet tooth, a bounty of rich and gooey triple chocolate brownies, festive mini Christmas puddings and perfectly formed mini tarte Tatins.
Guests were free to pop back and forth between the stalls and the dance floor throughout the evening, unaware that the icing on the cake was yet to come. Once they had experienced everything we had to offer (or so they believed!), we circulated our very popular midnight munchies, mini burgers with cheddar & tomato pickle - the perfect thing when you’ve worked up an appetite on the dancefloor!
It was a great event to be part of; our chefs in particular loved the challenge and the opportunity to experiment and once again deliver that ‘wow factor’ which memories are made of.
