Eleven international jewellers came together to showcase key pieces of Argyle pink diamond jewellery, many for the very first time. So rare are these diamonds, valued at over $65 million and each around 1.6 billion years old, that experts have said an exhibition of this type is unlikely ever to happen again. The jewellers’, and their stones’, strong ties with royalty made Kensington Palace the perfect place to host the event, and the royal household personally approved their one day residency at the palace.
As part of Out of the Vault – Pink Diamonds and Royalty, Ampersand Events hosted not one but two highly exclusive events. The first was a sit down press lunch with a menu featuring tender new season asparagus, supreme of guinea fowl, saffron risotto and delicate orange blossom crème caramel with cinnamon Chantilly foam for dessert.
The canapés, served on beautiful vintage mirrors and designed around a pink diamond theme, were created by our Head Chef, Lukasz Widomski. Served alongside pink Champagne, canapés offered to the VIP guests included filo pastry ‘diamond bags’ filled with pink boursin mushrooms, duck rillette in pink diamond jelly with diamond caviar, and beautiful dessert canapés of rhubarb cannelloni topped with pink diamond dust. These beautiful little delicacies were the ideal accompaniment to an evening spent with some of the rarest and oldest gems on the planet.
