Somerset House has excellent spaces for summer events, with the River Terrace a crowning glory. This amazing al fresco space offers awe-inspiring views of the buildings 18th century façade and the sweep of the Thames along to the South Bank. The River Terrace can accommodate up to 500 guests for an unforgettable evening event on a grand scale or 200 for a seated dinner, with the installation of a beautiful glass structure.
Somerset House is an amazing venue, known for its impressive ice rink in the winter, but equally as exciting over the summer. Right now it’s home to Photo London – a major international photography event, bringing together works from myriad galleries and covering styles that range from vintage to modern and contemporary.
From the 26th of June to the end of August, Somerset House will be hosting The Jam: About the Young Idea, the first comprehensive exhibition about the classic, seminal band. Clients who host an event during this time can add a private view of this fantastic exhibit to their occasion.
Seamen’s Hall is available for daytime hire and makes a superb choice for a summer meeting or press event, thanks to the great views of the Thames and Somerset House’s beautiful courtyard. A section of the River Terrace is included in Seamen’s Hall hire, giving the option of elegant alfresco entertaining.
The Portico Rooms are also extra special in the summertime, thanks to the main room’s twin balconies, which provide tranquil uninterrupted views of the Thames and the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court.
It’s early days, but it’s a safe bet that, for us, the highlight of June will be our very first Somerset House wedding. We’re so excited to see our lovely couple say "I do” in this incredible setting.
