We love a challenge, and, with no indoor space and no kitchen, we certainly had one on our hands. We devised an amazing canapé menu which would not need an on-site kitchen, and, with umbrellas at the ready, we were prepared for whatever the British weather could throw at us!
In a tranquil garden, guests enjoyed a beautiful canapé and champagne reception as the sun set over the city. We wanted to bring the garden to life in our canapé decking so we used rustic wooden boards, small vases of flowers on trays and floral frames, all to stunning effect. Canapé choices included mini Yorkshire puddings with rare roast beef and homemade creamed horseradish; crayfish, avocado & cucumber rice paper rolls; and Asian flavoured duck salad served on a white Chinese spoon.
However, we had saved the best till last… A little later in the evening guests were thrilled by a spectacular dessert garden of delights, a selection of flavoured lollipops, inspired by flowers and sprinkled in beeswax and mini edible butterflies. Served in edible gardens and as table centres in flower pots, these handcrafted desserts were a huge talking point of the evening, with many guests clamouring to take photos. Our pastry chef Andy had done us proud once again!
Thankfully the rain held off, and as the guests began to leave, we offered handmade shortbread infused with lavender fresh from our chef’s garden to give them a lasting memory of their evening in the sun.
