Fabulous Food Stalls and Wonderful Whizz Kidz at Hampton Court Palace’s Garden Room
Whizz Kidz chose the venue for its prestige and grandeur and were pleased to find that the Garden Room would comfortably fit a charity budget. Of course, a big factor in their decision-making was the need to have a fully accessible venue for wheelchair users, and they were pleased to find this, along with easy parking, in such a historical setting.
The challenge was on to make sure we gave the children the best possible experience, worthy of a silver anniversary, while keeping to a strict budget. To do this we made sure that all communication was quick and clear and we struck up a strong relationship with the client.
Whizz Kidz were keen to have their catering outside, with a fun menu. They considered a traditional hog roast but felt that the milestone occasion called for something a little more elegant. We created a delicious barbecue menu, served across a series of outdoor food stalls with a special range of choices for the children. Options included: pulled pork bap served with apple sauce, lamb and mint sausage served in a warm roll with sautéed onions, mustard mayonnaise and tomato relish, tandoori chicken skewers served with sour mint cream and crisp lettuce in a warm pitta bread, halloumi and vegetable kebabs.
The al fresco setting really added to the happy atmosphere of the day and the event felt like really special garden party. The highlight of the day was when the children saw the dessert station, a feast of Eton mess and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and every face lit up!
This was a really special event for all involved – it was so nice to do something different in the Garden Room and we all felt very humbled to play a part in the anniversary of this wonderful charity.
