Rum & Sugar is one of the best places to drink rum in London

Rum & Sugar, Ampersand’s distinctive restaurant and bar located in West India Quay and linked to the Museum of London Docklands, has received an official stamp of approval from Ian Burrell, the global ambassador for rum and founder of the renowned Golden Rum Barrel Awards.

For International Rum Day 2016, Burrell named his best places to drink rum in London, and Rum & Sugar was proud to appear amongst his top seven spots. In his rum round-up, that appeared on the Evening Standard website, Rum & Sugar was described as ‘probably the most historical rum site in London’, and readers were encouraged to ‘try one of the various rum flights that they offer’. Set in a historical and atmospheric warehouse that was home to old rum blending companies in the 1900s, Rum & Sugar is undoubtedly a rum mecca. It has over 155 rums in its portfolio, and growing, and a varied, delicious rum cocktail list. Paul Williams, the general manager for Rum & Sugar said: “To be recognised by Ian Burrell as one of the best bars to drink rum in London is amazing. London boasts an unrivalled selection of well-stocked rum bars, so to be picked out as one of the best by such a high-profile figure in the world of rum is a great achievement. We’ve worked hard to create a venue that offers a vast and varied selection of rums and rum cocktails, and the right ambience to go with it. Such recognition is testament to the team’s hard work and dedication – and, of course, we agree with Ian Burrell, wholeheartedly!”
