Ampersand's Francesca Skeffington scoops Acorn Award

Our very own Francesca Skeffington has been singled out as one of the brightest young prospects in the hospitality industry by Caterer and Hotelkeeper in its prestigious annual Acorns awards. Her success – along with that of 29 others under 30 who judges identified as ‘future stars’ - was revealed yesterday after they attended a top secret weekend retreat at Devon’s premier country house hotel, Bovey Castle.

Acorn winners are regarded as ‘the ones to watch’ and are selected from across the hospitality industry by a panel of industry luminaries, based on a detailed assessment of their career achievements and experiences to date, the extent of their ambition, dedication and focus and their contribution to the industry beyond their day-to-day role. Participation in the award is fiercely competitive, with hundreds of applicants vying for honour.

Francesca, who, aged just 25, is one of the youngest Acorn winners, impressed judges by her single-minded focus on service delivery and client satisfaction, which led her to be described by Rear Admiral Sir Richard Phillips, the Clerk of the Haberdashers where Francesca was General Manager as “one of the ‘greats’ for the future”.
"one of the 'greats' for the future"

Francesca recently made another career leap when she joined the Ampersand Events team as Senior Events Manager earlier this year. Her central production unit runs huge, elegant and high-profile events at iconic London venues such as Kensington Palace and The Guildhall.

We are all tremendously proud of Francesca and what she has achieved in such a short time and at such a young age. No one who knows her will have any doubt that she has an amazing career in hospitality in front of her because she excels in everything she takes on and immediately wins the respect of those around her. Francesca is a great example of what passion and dedication delivers to clients each day. Congratulations Francesca on a very well-deserved win!
