Our Approach to Food at Historic Royal Palaces

With locations steeped deep in history and high volumes of visitors, both national and international, visiting every year it was clear to Ampersand from the start that the food offer at the Historic Royal Palaces required a unique approach.

With a clear emphasis on providing an attraction within an attraction, the focus for the food offer was on interpreting the unique history of each Palace finding a way of extending the visitor experience into each catering outlet.

At Hampton Court Palace we take inspiration from the Kitchens of Henry VIII and Elisabeth I in the Tiltyard Deli & Kitchen and the Privy Kitchen within the Palace.

At the Tower of London, the history of markets who have supplied produce to the Tower through the ages forms the basis of our food offer in the New Armouries Restaurant.

An afternoon tea offer inspired by some of Kensington Palaces most famous inhabitants, such as Queen Victoria, forms part of the enticing menu at the Orangery at Kensington Palace.
