Fairfield Farm Crisps
Made with potatoes grown in rich fertile soil, Fairfields Farm Crisps only uses what Mother Nature has provided for fabulous crisps.
After seven years as a potato farmer, Robert Strathen and his wife Laura decided it was time to add value to their crop and produce something they loved even more than potatoes. Passionate about local provenance and ingredients as nature intended, the couple launched Fairfields Farm Crisps in 2006.
Fairfields Farm Crisps are produced from the potatoes that Robert and Laura have always grown on the farm in the Colne Valley, Essex. When it is time to harvest, each potato is hand-selected and washed leaving their jackets on, then pan fried in sunflower oil to make sure that only the best crisps end up in the bag.
With unique flavours such as ‘Wicks Manor smoky bacon and Sunday roast potato’ or parsnip crisps with ‘Essex honey and black pepper’, Robert and Laura demonstrate their passion for local ingredients and East Anglian provenance.
"The best crisps need the best potatoes and here, we are very proud of what we do. We love it when people pop by to take a look at what goes on and chat about our wonderful products.”
Specialising in biscuits, flapjacks, fruit cakes and tray bakes, Marshfield Bakery has been creating home-made sweet treats for more than 25 years.
Established by husband and wife team, Lynne and Paul White, Marshfield Bakery started out as a small business, selling locally and operating from the couple’s home kitchen in Marshfield, Wiltshire.
The business has grown quickly and today the company has a team of 25 staff and supplies customers throughout the country.
Using locally sourced ingredients, such as Wiltshire flour and Somerset farmhouse butter, Marshfield has a tradition of home-made products from Lynne’s own recipes. In fact, these recipes have changed very little over the years, perhaps only a tweak here and there, and with a successful range of over 80 products, it’s clear that Marshfield is on to a winning formula.
"All our ingredients are what you would find in any home kitchen; that’s how we started and although our operations have increased in size, our methods and approach to baking are the same."
